Dhaka, September 23, 2019: Huawei on the three day long Huawei Connect 2019 event has announced the launch of a new research programme designed to promote the database industry ecosystem. Huawei will invest BDT 179 crore (USD 21.15 million) in research and university partnerships to provide training, internships and job opportunities connected with its GaussDB database product under the ‘GaussDB Golden Seeds Development Programme’.
Huawei also plan to build 10 GaussDB innovation labs on college campuses and already has unveiled four of these labs in East China Normal University (ECNU), Wuhan University (WHU), Chongqing University of Posts and Telecommunications (CQUPT), and National Engineering Laboratory for Big Data Software of the Tsinghua University (NELBDS).
In this regard, David Wang, Executive Director of the Board and President of ICT Strategy & Marketing said, “Data and intelligence are changing the way we work and live. Data is becoming a new resource and intelligence is driving productivity. In the next 10 years, Huawei is ready to solve application problems in data and intelligence convergence, develop intelligent data, and lead data infrastructure innovation. We’ll also
advance the database industry by opening up our GaussDB infrastructure and working with top universities in the upcoming GaussDB Golden Seeds Development Program to help cultivate the data infrastructure talents of tomorrow. We are committed to collaborating with customers, partners, and universities to build an open and cooperative ecosystem that benefits everyone and creates business success.”
The digital economy is a modern industrial revolution, changing not only the global financial system, but also society. Huawei’s Global Industry Vision (GIV) 2025 report estimates that the annual volume of global data will reach 180 Zettabyte (ZB), and enterprises will capitalize on 86% of their produced data. Embracing the digital economy and transformation is vital for every enterprise. Huawei is working with industry partners to build a Kunpeng data industry ecosystem. Their goal is to power industry applications and converged data infrastructure with Ascend and Kunpeng processors for every industry.
